You may have heard that article marketing is viral marketing. What you may not know is exactly how articles become viral – or just how viral they actually become! Article marketing is one of the most powerful forms of marketing in existence today – and the journey of the article is what makes this so.
First, you write the article and polish it, making sure that the article makes your point, and that it has the potential to accomplish what you want it to accomplish. This may be to make sales or to increase your opt-in list. Once you know that you have created the right article for your purposes, complete with an author’s resource box that calls the reader to action, you are ready to move to the next step – releasing your article to the world.
The Internet is global, so when you start distributing your article, you really are releasing it to the entire world. Since web pages can be translated into many different languages, there isn’t even a language barrier. You start with your list of ezine publishers. They are easy to find. Visit the ezine directories, and search for the publishers who accept articles. Load them into your autoresponder, and submit your new article to them. Many will publish your work – free of charge – with your resource box in tact.
Make sure that you also release your article to your own subscribers. Post it on your blog, and post it on your website as well, as content. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you might want to do this first.
After you’ve published the article for your own use, and you’ve submitted it to your database of ezine publishers, the next step is to submit the article to the article repositories, which are often called article banks. From here, your article will be picked up by other ezine publishers and website publishers. They will use your article in their newsletters and on their websites, leaving your article intact, with the resource box.
From there, it just spreads and spreads and spreads, with no end in site, as long as the information contained in the article is relevant. In fact, it becomes so incredibly viral, that it becomes impossible to fully track the entire journey of the article. It gets out of control – and this is a very good thing!
